Way Down North with Rene Fumoleau

Local legend, poet,  photographer and longtime northern cleric  Rene Fumoleau recently  celebrated the launch of his latest book, 'Way Down North' in Yellowknife, with tea and bannock, just a few shared memories and plenty of gentle humor and gratitude, amongst a standing- room- only crowd at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre.

Fumoleau, just 84 years young, collaborated with a small team of archival staff over the past two years to sort through more than 10,000 of his own photos taken over the past half century amongst and with the Dene people.  His selection criteria: beautiful images of historical importance...the final product?

Seasons of Beauty

A subset of the photos will be on display at the Heritage Center through May 2011.
