Excellent point, Steve...perhaps most salient was the reinforcement of a systems approach to health services development and improvement, and the recognition that high-income countries have much to learn from low and middle-income ones, although differences within and between countries are, of course, often obscured in a global focus. Recalibrating power dynamics and funding streams to more fully support that complex reality and more community-based participatory approaches seemed a clear next step.
To get a sense of the quality and quantity of presentations, take a look at the links below:
Book of abstracts
Full organized session descriptions and abstracts are now available, both for oral presentations (http://www.hsr-symposium.org/images/stories/abstracts.pdf) and posters (http://www.hsr-symposium.org/images/stories/poster_abstracts.pdf). In an effort to save paper, we will not be printing these full abstracts -- we hope that for most participants this electronic (easily searchable) version will be sufficient.
Lots of food for thought and reflection, and some new networking opportunities...
Nice to be able to share your trip. But you should also tell us about what you're learning at the conference.
