NWT Ghosts of Mining Past on Display

Ghosts of Mining Past (and Present and Future?)

Mining has always been a dangerous gamble, yet the oh-so-close, yet often elusive riches continue to tempt many beyond any reasonable risk. Our news is still filled today with stories of doomed miners in China, Chile, West Virginia and all corners of the globe.   No place seems immune from this apparently universal treasure lust.   I was reminded of this last weekend while wandering around the open air display put on by the NWT Mining Heritage Society.  Not only did I get  my 'curvy truck'  fix,  but I also got a glimpse inside the industry that has so shaped this northern territory (and many others like it).
